Where I've Been and Changes I am Making

Helloooo…I am back.

So I started this blog initially during my first semester of college in order to provide myself with a platform to release inner stress and promote some source of happiness for myself and hopefully other people. What came of it was a tremendous amount of support from my friends and family that I was most definitely not expecting. I had to take a little pause from all of this because sometimes life just happens and thats that.

I don’t want to spread too much of my personal life on here because it doesn’t really matter, as long as the lessons I’ve learned throughout my 19 years of living have the ability to help other people. I remain so very thankful for the abundance of love I have within my life but sometimes those qualities are hard to see as a result of being clouded by the hardships of life. I want to be a source of light for some of the dark clouds that each and every person experiences within life itself.

I want to begin writing again, on my own schedule, being as raw and truthful as possible, in order to serve as a personal account of this chapter in my life and hopefully to serve as a source of inspiration/help for y’all reading.

Cheers to being authentically happy in the new year and I can’t wait to share it all with you.

A Quick Guide to Self-Care

Hey everyone! So today's topic on the blog is self-care. I have---time and time again---failed to realize the importance of taking time to care for myself. I wanted to give y'all a quick read today, so I am going to highlight 3 of my favorite tips to self-care that I use on a regular basis, and that you can to.

Give yourself a routine.

One of my favorite ways to allow myself the freedom of taking time out of my busy day for myself is to establish a routine that remains consistent and flexible no matter how my days are going. This may include something as simple as making myself a cup of coffee before I leave for class, or something more special like doing a face mask once or twice a week on a certain day. Its important to give yourself structure so that you don't feel overwhelmed by everything you have going on, a routine is something you can control yourself which--to some people including myself--is extremely comforting.

Purchase products that promote relaxation.

I consider my dorm room to be a space where I go to relax and reflect on my busy days. Some of my favorite products that I use on a daily basis in order to create a relaxing and cozy space for myself include candles and my beloved essential oil diffuser. I cannot say enough about how amazing it can feel to come back after a long day and light a few candles just to clear your headspace (not to mention how great it makes the room smell).

Turn off social media for an hour.

There is something about not feeling pressure to check Instagram or Twitter that just totally clears my head. Even if its just an hour, by not checking your socials, you are giving yourself space to think and breathe without the constant need to see what others are doing. This is something that is sooo incredibly easy and feels good to do once or twice a day.
